"There was a rhythm to the whole neighborhood, like a heartbeat." - says Mustafa Gülbay, Mayor of Buldan as he talks about Denizli, where every house has a loom and every family a weaver. Established in 800 B.C.these looms probe into the long-standing tradition. Today's weavers hold on tight to 'trade secrets' that when looked at up close are just years of wisdom and art. We work with the last remaining ancestral Turkish weavers who till date weave these towels using royal weaving techniques of the 17th century and work on ancient shuttle looms.
